Minutes, Board Meeting 16 September 2009
The meeting was called to order at the Showcase Building at 1255. In attendance: Spicer, Petersen, Eide, Davis, Stansell, Hughes, Cyparski and Emily Francona, Assistant District 5110 Governor.
- August 19 Minutes were approved.
- Treasurer reported excellent proceeds from the Salmon Derby. Rotary received $3,740.56 and Curry Sportsfishing Association received $11,221.71.
- Hughes will continue to work on the $10/month service charge on the Basketball accounts bank statement with CHASE.
- Hughes received board approval to move forward and present financial to CPA for annual tax return.
- In June 2010, an audit committee of volunteer members (perhaps banking industry members) will perform an informal audit of the financial reports.
- Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative is allowing members who move away or who are no longer members to donate their credits to Rotary.
- Francona passed out District Directories for various leadership positions.
- Francona also distributed a brochure for Polio Eradication Day on October 25th. Other local clubs are raising funds by selling "Polio Eradication Roses" at $15/each. Emily invited our club to join in this effort or start one of our own.
- Emily recommended rotating committee chairs and Treasurer/Secretary positions every (3) years to give other members an opportunity to be involved.
- Discussed programs for upcoming weekly luncheon. Spicer has next two weeks lined up. Emily will present Visionary Program on October 7th. On October 14th, George Lewis will present a membership/recruitment pitch.
- Petersen recommended Rotary purchase a new American flag to go with our new banners. Francona suggested contacted our congress representatives to receive one at cost.
- Ed Frazier constructed a new Rotary Podium for our meetings. Becky Atherton donated the Rotary plague.
- Motion was made to approve Treasurer Report. Motion passed.
- Davis asked about upcoming Student of the Month recognition for September/October. Eide suggested rotating gift certificates for students from Gold Beach Books to Corner Drug.
- It was recommended to send Amy Timeus a card for her recent surgery. Cyparski volunteered to do this.
