Minutes, Board Meeting 29 April 2009
The meeting was called to order at the Showcase Building, Event Center on the Beach at 1305. In attendance: Stansell, Peterson, Eide, Sayler, Allen, Hughes and Cyparski. Also in attendance: Lisa Carlson, Emily Francona, Joel Summer.
- March 18, 2009 minutes were approved as submitted.
- Treasurer report reviewed and approved as submitted.
- Discussed Rotary High School Scholarship process. The board gave Stansell the option to increase the number of scholarships awarded to six total (up from three) depending on their qualifications. The amount of each scholarship will be determined at the time of the award but will not exceed $1000 each.
- It was stated that $1,500 from Gold Beach Community Fund was believed to have been sent to the Snack Pack Program. If not, it is designated for Curry Cares for Kids. Allen will follow up with the Gold Beach Community Fund to determine if funds were sent to the Snack Pack Program.
- Thank you letter from Jamie for support of Haitian project was presented.
- Noted Letter to Editor from Gymnastics by Design.
- It was determined the Certificate of Deposit will remain with Chase (Washington Mutual) for ease of Treasurer versus being distributed between Sterling and Chetco at roll-over.
- Because of changing market conditions, it was discussed to put CD funds in a ladder to take advantage of more competitive rates over time.
- Joel Summer agreed to send Ms. Francona articles and photos to be posted on the District 5110 website to share our successful fundraisers with other District Clubs.
- It was noted that the Four Way Speech contest was missed this year.
- The District Assembly Conference is to be held May 30th in Corvallis. All club top officers and committee chairs are encouraged to attend.
- Meeting was adjourned at 1400.
