The 70 Rotary clubs in our district will vote at the meeting to decide (2/3 majority vote required) whether or not we will apply to participate as a pilot district for the period 2010-2013. Recruiting Is PERSONAL: Sponsoring a new member starts with asking. Asking is simply recognizing an opportunity to connect with another person and to connect that person with Rotary. It's recruiting on a personal level and an essential complement to recruiting on a club level. While we're putting some of our club recruiting plans in motion, each of us has the power and the opportunity every day to just plain ask. Simply pose the question: "Have you ever thought about giving back to the community through Rotary?" Now ask yourself: "Whom should I ask? Who may be waiting to be asked?"

DISTRICT CONFERENCE AND DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 2009: Information on the upcoming District Conference 2009 to be held in Corvallis (May 28-31). Capps; Anchorwoman and Rotary Polio Ambassador Penny LeGate; and Past RI President Richard D. ("Rick") King. Increase Your Rotary Knowledge: Excerpt from District Governor Mike Fishnaller. January is Rotary Information Month. A time for each of us to become better informed and prepared to make an even bigger impact with our Rotary service.

Don't limit yourself to what our club is involved in - reach out to the broader world of Rotary programs and service. It is an individual responsibility and not something anyone else can do for us.

Each Rotarian has the resources we need at our finger tips or in our mail box. When we became a member of our Rotary club we were given information about Rotary and our club. One source comes to us monthly in our mail box. The Rotarian magazine is a great source of information about successful projects, current information and future Rotary events.

I would also recommend visiting other Rotary clubs in your area as well as when you travel. It is a great way to make new friends and learn how other clubs function as well as hear great programs (which you may want to bring to your club). Don't wait until you need a make up - go when you have the time and a clear schedule.
