Rotary Club of Gold Beach * Meeting each Wednesday at noon at the Event Center on the Beach Showcase Building * June 10, 2009 * Meeting #47
Today's Program: Joyce Barrett, President of the Gold Beach Senior Center.
Club Report: Thanks to Tony and Terri Lynn Kalhagen, for sharing the stories and DVD on the Just A Drop clean water project. What an amazing project you started for our club to be a part of. Thanks from all of us.
Upcoming Programs June 17 - Transition Meeting (Let's try again) June 24 - TBD July 1 - TBD
Party at the Port: We started off last year with our Beer Garden at Party at the Port. Thanks to all the Rotary Volunteers, we managed to earn some money and hopefully worked out some of the kinks to make this year even better. One thing we discovered was that we need MORE VOLUNTEERS! So please talk to Gloria or Mary and sign up to work at the Beer Garden this year!
Salmon Derby: Yes, we are starting to organize this year's Salmon Derby. And again we are looking for volunteers to help with several different assignments. We need someone to help organize the auction, a weigh master, check in, the list goes on. We will soon be recruiting for volunteers. Let's get out and help the fund the Sea Lion Patrol again this year. It helps our community!
A Message From Rotary First Harvest: Congratulations to each club! Rotary First Harvest was honored at the District 5110 Conference and Assembly as the District's Best Cooperative Project Award. Each club was named, listed and honored! Great work!! YOU make it happen.
Please join me in thanking District Governor Mike for this tremendous recognition and honor! Thank you, DG Mike!! ... While at the conference, 2 additional clubs joined Rotary First Harvest - now totaling 23...Let's encourage other clubs to follow suit. Let's all partner to end hunger! Rotarians can do it.
With 10 gardens this season, a restaurant food recovery program, meat program, commercial growers excess program, gleaning, grow-an-extra row and much more, RFH is exploding!!
Could we double our club participation by the 2010 District Conference? I say "yes". The future of Rotary First Harvest is in our hands.
THANK YOU, each and every one, for making a difference, making dreams real!
